A mobile laboratory able to detect chemical contamination will be on standby in Bratislava to fly to the Olympics in Athens if there is a terrorist attack, Slovakia's Interior Ministry said Monday."A radiation unit comprising six members will be on a state of alert from August 1 to 31 at Bratislava airport and will be capable of arriving in Greece within 12 hours in the event of a terrorist attack," ministry spokeswoman Monika Kuhajdova said.
"The laboratory is capable of picking up toxic characteristics and radiation in the air, water and soil," she added.
Slovakia, which joined the European Union and NATO this year, agreed to Greece's request to mobilise the unit.
Greece will ensure transport to Athens if the unit is required.
